
their current location in 1983. They were originally constructed by the late and much missed Ian Mellor-Clark, part owner of the Pier, with much of the building work being done by his own hands. Due to ill health Ian decided to sell the café and chip shop to Tim and Sally Banwell, daughter and son-in-law of the other owner of St. Annes Pier, in 2006 who have been running the café ever since. With their extensive background in catering operations they intend to develop the café to make the most of its fantastic location and awe-inspiring views. Today the café provides thousands of locals and holidaymakers alike with refreshments, delicious hot meals and snacks, ice creams and fish and chips. |

The focus is very much on locally sourced produce, making the most of what Lancashire has to offer. This includes Trough of Bowland beef from award-winning St. Annes butchers Gigli’s and the best locally grown potatoes. The café is famous for their homemade steak pies and cheese and onion pies, which sell out as soon as they come out of the oven! They are made to an old family Lancashire recipe with the best ingredients. The café is open every day throughout the summer, and at weekends from November until Easter. St Annes Pier was opened on June 15th 1885, and further extended over the next 20 years to include a 1000 seat 'Moorish' pavilion and 'Floral Hall', with an amusement arcade added in 1954. In 1974 and again in 1982 the Pier has suffered serious fires destroying much of the seaward end of the Pier, however the extensively refurbished arcade remains along with much of the stunning and rare original Victorian architecture.
